Eventbrite alternative

An Eventbrite alternative that also runs the room

Most people searching for an Eventbrite alternative for online events are not unhappy with Eventbrite’s ticketing. They are tired of the seam. You sell on Eventbrite, you host on Zoom, you paste a link into a confirmation email, you hope people find it, and then you are copying question threads out of a chat panel afterward if you want to reuse anything. Two tools, two bills, and an attendee experience that hands people off in the middle.

Q&A With Me is built as one surface. You set a ticket price and publish an event page. Buyers get a seat and a calendar invite with no separate ticketing tool in the loop. When it starts, they are already where the session is. They ask questions as text or short video, you pick one and it appears on screen for everyone, and each answered question comes back afterward as a vertical clip you can post.

It is not a full Eventbrite replacement and we will not pretend otherwise. Eventbrite owns in-person events and its marketplace sends real discovery traffic that we do not have. Plenty of organizers keep both. This is the right swap specifically when the event is online and paid, and the session itself is the thing people bought.

Is Q&A With Me the right swap for you?

Reach for Q&A With Me when

  • The event is online and the session is what people paid for, so you want one place that sells the ticket and hosts the room.
  • The audience’s questions are the format: viewers submit text or video questions and you put them on screen live.
  • You want every answered question to come back as a vertical clip for TikTok, Reels and Shorts without editing it yourself.
  • You want to keep collecting questions between events on a standing ask page, not just during a scheduled session.
  • You want to run it from your phone, or from a desktop studio on Mac or Windows when you want slides and guests.

Reach for Eventbrite when

  • Your event is in person. Q&A With Me does not do venues, door lists, or physical ticket scanning at all.
  • You want discovery: Eventbrite is a marketplace people browse, so a listing can bring you attendees you did not already have.
  • You want buyers to absorb the fees. Eventbrite adds them at checkout by default, so you can net close to face value.
  • You need mature ticketing machinery: tiered ticket types, promo codes, reserved seating, waitlists, and refund tooling.

Where Eventbrite genuinely wins

  • In-person events. This is not a close call - Eventbrite is built for venues and physical attendance, and we do not compete there.
  • Discovery. Eventbrite is a marketplace with browse and search traffic, so a listing can find you an audience. We have no marketplace; you bring your own people.
  • Ticketing depth: multiple ticket types, promo codes, waitlists, reserved seating, and refund workflows that have been hardened over years.
  • Fee optics. Because Eventbrite fees are typically passed to the buyer, the organizer often nets close to full face value on the ticket itself.

Switching from Eventbrite: common questions

Does Eventbrite host the video for online events?

No. Eventbrite sells the ticket and gives you an online event page, but the video comes from a tool you connect - most commonly Zoom, though Vimeo, YouTube and Twitch links also work. Attendees click through from Eventbrite to wherever the session actually runs. Q&A With Me hosts the stream itself, so the ticket and the room are the same product and nobody gets handed off mid-event.

Is Q&A With Me cheaper than Eventbrite?

Not on ticketing alone, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise. Eventbrite charges 3.7% + $1.79 per ticket plus 2.9% processing, but it lets you pass those fees to the buyer, which most organizers do - so you often net close to face value. We take 10% of face value plus Stripe’s 2.9% + $0.30 out of your side, with a $0.50 buyer service fee on top. On a $50 ticket that is about $43.25 to you. The honest comparison is the whole stack: our 10% covers ticketing, the live room, the Q&A, the replay and the clips, whereas Eventbrite’s fee covers ticketing and you still pay separately for the video tool.

Can I keep using Eventbrite and still use Q&A With Me?

Yes, and for a lot of organizers that is the right answer. Keep Eventbrite for in-person events and anywhere the marketplace listing is genuinely finding you attendees. Use Q&A With Me for the online paid sessions where you want the ticket, the stream and the questions in one place. They are not mutually exclusive.

Will I lose the discovery I get from being listed on Eventbrite?

Yes, and this is Eventbrite’s clearest win. Eventbrite is a marketplace with browse and search traffic, so a listing can put you in front of people who have never heard of you. We have no marketplace and no plans to become one - you bring your own audience from your list, your socials, or your existing community. If discovery is the main reason you are on Eventbrite, that is a good reason to stay.

What does the attendee experience actually look like?

They buy a seat on your event page and get a calendar invite. At start time they open the same page and the session is right there, no separate link to find. They can submit a question as text or a short video, and if you pick it, their question appears on screen alongside your answer for everyone watching. Afterward they get the replay, and can still submit questions you might answer later.

What happens to the recording?

Every session records automatically and becomes a replay you control. Each answered question is also cut into its own vertical clip sized for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, with the question and your answer together. On an Eventbrite-plus-Zoom setup you would be exporting a Zoom recording and editing clips yourself.

Can I do in-person or hybrid events here?

No. There is no check-in, no scanning, no seating, and no venue tooling. If any part of your event is physical, Eventbrite is the right tool and we are not trying to replace it. Q&A With Me is only for online sessions.

Do I need a separate tool to email my attendees?

Not for the basics - buyers get confirmations, calendar invites and reminders automatically. If you already run a list, Q&A With Me syncs consenting registrants into Kit, Mailchimp, Beehiiv or Flodesk so they land in your existing audience rather than being trapped in a ticketing platform. Eventbrite has its own email marketing, though the larger sending volumes sit behind its paid Pro plan.
