Luma alternative

A Luma alternative that hosts the session, not just the page

If you are looking for a Luma alternative, it is usually not because the event pages are bad. They are good. It is because your event is online and paid, and the flow goes: gorgeous Luma page, then a Zoom link, then a Zoom room that looks nothing like the page, then a chat panel full of questions you will never do anything with afterward. The polish stops at the front door.

Q&A With Me carries it all the way through. You set a price and publish a session page. Buyers get a seat and a calendar invite. At start time they are already where the session is, and instead of a chat sidebar they submit text or short video questions. You pick one and it goes on screen, their question next to your answer, for everyone watching. Afterward each answered question comes back as a vertical clip you can post.

To be clear about what you would give up: Luma calendars, in-person meetups, and its free-tier economics are all genuinely strong and we do not match them. A lot of hosts sensibly run both. This is the right swap when the online paid session is the thing, and the questions are the format.

Is Q&A With Me the right swap for you?

Reach for Q&A With Me when

  • The event is an online paid session and you want the ticket and the room to be the same product.
  • The audience’s questions are the show: text and video questions go on screen live, not into a chat sidebar.
  • You want every answered question back as a vertical clip for TikTok, Reels and Shorts without editing it yourself.
  • You want a standing ask page that collects questions between events, not just around a scheduled one.
  • You want to host from your phone, or from a Mac or Windows desktop studio when you want slides and guests.

Reach for Luma when

  • You run meetups, in-person events, or hybrid gatherings. We do not do physical events at all.
  • You run a recurring series or a community calendar - Luma calendars, subscriber follows and referrals are built exactly for that.
  • Ticketing economics matter most: Luma’s free tier takes 5%, and its paid tier drops the platform fee to 0%.
  • You want the fastest, best-looking event page in the category with almost no setup.

Where Luma genuinely wins

  • Event pages and calendars. Luma’s pages are faster to make and better looking than ours, and its calendar/series model has no equivalent here.
  • In-person and hybrid events, which we do not support in any form.
  • Fees on the ticket itself: 5% on the free tier, and 0% platform fee on Luma Plus. Our 10% plus processing comes out of your side.
  • Community mechanics: subscriber follows, referrals, and guest invites that help a series compound over time.

Switching from Luma: common questions

Does Luma have built-in video for virtual events?

No. Luma will automatically create a Zoom meeting or webinar for your event, generate a Google Meet link, or let you paste in a stream link, and it tracks attendance against that. The video itself is always someone else’s. Q&A With Me streams natively, so the session, the questions and the ticket are one product and attendees never leave the page.

Is Q&A With Me cheaper than Luma?

On the ticket itself, no. Luma’s free plan takes a 5% platform fee, and Luma Plus at $59/mo billed annually takes 0%, with Stripe processing on top either way. We take 10% of face value plus Stripe’s 2.9% + $0.30 from your side, with a $0.50 buyer service fee. On a $50 ticket that is about $43.25 to you. Where the math changes is that our fee also covers hosting the session, the Q&A, the replay and the clips, whereas on Luma the video tool is a separate bill and a separate product.

Can I use both Luma and Q&A With Me?

Yes, and plenty of hosts should. Luma is excellent for meetups, in-person events and running a recurring community calendar. Use Q&A With Me for the online paid sessions where you want the ticket and the room together and the questions on screen. You can even point a Luma event at a Q&A With Me session page if you want Luma to own the RSVP layer.

What do I give up by moving an online event here?

Luma’s event pages are faster to build and better looking than ours, and its calendar model, subscriber follows and referral mechanics have no equivalent here. You also give up in-person support entirely. If your events are a series that compounds through a Luma calendar, that is a real reason to stay.

How is the Q&A different from a Zoom chat panel?

In Zoom, questions pile up in a sidebar and only you are really reading them. Here the questions are the format: viewers submit text or short video questions, a queue surfaces the most relevant ones, and the one you pick appears on screen for everyone, their question and your answer together. That is also what makes the clips work afterward.

What happens to the recording?

Every session records automatically and becomes a replay you control, with captions and a transcript. Each answered question is also cut into its own vertical clip for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. On a Luma-plus-Zoom setup you would be downloading a Zoom recording and cutting clips by hand.

Can I collect questions before the session?

Yes, and you can collect them when there is no session at all. Every creator gets a standing ask page where people submit questions any time. You answer with a short video whenever you want, and the asker gets notified. It is the async half of the same loop, and Luma has no equivalent because it is scoped to events.

Does Q&A With Me do in-person events?

No, not at all - no check-in, no guest list scanning, no venue tooling. If any part of your event is physical, Luma is the better tool and we are not trying to compete there.

Make the switch from Luma

Free to host paid events. We earn when you earn - a flat 10% plus a $0.50 buyer fee per ticket, paid out about a week after your session ends.
