Which one do I need?

You never have to install anything to start. Claiming your ask page, collecting questions, and answering them all work in a browser.

The short version:

• Browser: everything, including going live from a desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Safari can still watch, answer, and schedule; going live from Safari or a phone browser needs the app.
• Phone app: the same, plus going live from your phone, plus a notification the moment a question arrives.
• Mac app: the same as the phone, plus screen sharing, external cameras and mics, a larger question queue, and an HD copy of your stream recorded locally.

On your phone

Open the notification, watch the question, record your answer straight into the camera. Question to published answer without leaving the app.

It's also a full broadcast rig: you can run an entire live session from your phone with nothing else plugged in.

On your Mac

The Mac app records from external mics and cameras, landscape or portrait, as well as your built-in webcam. You can screen share, and you get a larger view of your question queue to manage while you're live.

In your browser

Your ask page, your inbox, recording and publishing answers, watching sessions and replays, billing, and settings all work in any modern browser. You can schedule a session from the web and go live from it too, straight from Chrome, Edge, or Firefox on the desktop with nothing installed.

Safari on the desktop can still schedule, watch, answer, and manage everything else - going live from Safari specifically needs Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or the desktop app.

Going live from a phone browser is the one thing we deliberately don't do. A mobile tab is suspended the moment you switch apps, take a call, or your screen locks, which would end the stream in front of your audience. The phone app holds the capture properly, so that is where a phone goes live.

The Mac app is still worth installing if you stream often: it keeps an HD copy of your stream recorded locally and uploads it afterwards, which a browser tab cannot promise because you can close it mid-recording.

Viewers never need anything installed. They watch, ask, and come on stage from the browser.
